bakerloo

magknits pattern

My Bakerloo pattern is now in Magknits - it made the cover, go see (the photo above is a link to the pattern itself).

As I've written before, this ended up being a rather emotional project. I came up with the idea so I could make a pair of socks with a piano keyboard on them for my dad for Father's Day.

But only days after I'd swatched he was diagnosed with cancer, and he died only weeks later. This is why the piano ones were done in a cashmere blend, they were bed-socks while he was ill.

Oh, Alice, they look wonderful! Congrats on making the cover, too, by the way. I may have to try them, but I'm still muddling through (slowly but surely) the love me knots. =)

Oh Alice, the thought of your Dad wearing the beautiful socks you made with such love and care is making me smile sadly.

The pattern looks very interesting and a fun twist on socks making (I'm a toe upper by the way). Well done on publishing such a personal item. I'm sure your dad really appreciated them.

Congratulations on the cover. In light of it all, it is rather bittersweet, but I hope you can find some joy in it. Lovely pattern.

Oh I love the piano socks!
Now that I know the story, I MUST make them.
When my Dad was in the Hospital for the Last
Time...I made him a pair of sideways socks to warm his feet, which were always dreadfully cold.
After he died, my Mother sent me back the socks.
I hold them sometimes, and it helps with the
Missing Him So Much.
Congrats on making the COVER of Magknits!

Hi Alice,
Wonderful pattern again! I'm so sorry about your dad, but I'm sure these socks were a great comfort to him.

I also knit your Rosalind scarf for my husband. Great pattern! I cannot wait to knit a couple more in different color combinations.

I am so very sorry about your dad. The Bakerloo's are incredible. They are SO piano keyboard like. A real tribute to your father. Congrats on the Magknits publication. I'll go take a look

Bakerloo revealed! Finally! This is just the pattern that may entice me to try another pair of socks. I am mightily impressed.

I want to make these socks, but the charts are no longer available through magknits. :(

Sorry Jinny, I've not had time to put them up online yet. I'm EXTREMELY busy at the moment. Try googleing 'sidewinders' for a similar pattern.
